Meet the Judges: Window to the World Championship | Singapore SGF2024

Alison Bradley - Head Judge

Alison Bradley, the Director and Co-Founder of Floral Fundamentals, hails from Scotland and is a luminary in the world of floral design. With a storied career that includes being the Director and Editor-in-Chief of the former Fusion Flowers magazine, Alison has accumulated numerous accolades, including the Best in Show and Gold Awards, as well as the Most Innovative Designer award. Her influence extends beyond design, as she has lectured worldwide, demonstrated floral design concepts, and featured as a BBC Expert on Floral Design. Alison's expertise has also been showcased in a BBC documentary about her garden and her work. Her judging experience at the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) includes the Floral Windows to the World competitions in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Harijanto Setiawan - Judge

Harijanto Setiawan from Singapore, originally trained as an architect, transitioned into floristry where he has gained international acclaim for his innovative floral designs. An International Master Florist from the Boerma Institute Flower School in Holland, Harijanto serves as a floral ambassador for Floral Fundamentals UK. He made history as the first floral designer in Singapore to receive the Designer of the Year award from the President of Singapore. Harijanto's role as a tutor at the Interflora World Cup 2023 in Manchester, UK, further highlights his expertise. With three influential floral books to his name and numerous workshops, seminars, and commercial projects, Harijanto has left an indelible mark on the floristry world. He previously judged the Floral Windows to the World competitions at SGF in 2016 and 2018.

Takumi Nakaya - Judge

Takumi Nakaya, the President of Floral School “Madka” in Japan, is a veteran floral designer with over four decades of experience. His illustrious career includes winning the Championship (Prime Minister Award) at the 14th JFTD Japan Cup Competition. Takumi's judging credentials are impressive, having served as a judge at the World Flower Art Contest in Beijing in 2019. His expertise extends beyond Japan, with floral demonstrations in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong showcasing his design skills on an international stage.

Petra Konrad - Technical Judge

Petra Konrad is a Master Florist Designer from Germany and the CEO of FlowerArt Academy. Petra's international reach includes teaching at the International Floral Design Education Foundation in Taiwan, Dream Flower Academy in South Korea, and the Officina delle Piante Flower Academy in Italy. Her technical expertise and global teaching experience make her a valued technical judge for this competition.

Bart Hassam - Technical Judge

Bart Hassam, an International Floral Designer from Australia, is the 2019 Floral World Cup Champion. With multiple titles including the Australian Interflora Florist of the Year and Queensland Interflora Florist of the Year, Bart is renowned for his philosophy of creating beauty through plant material with elegance, appropriateness, and respect for the flowers. His victory at the 2019 Florists’ Transworld Delivery (FTD) World Cup of Floral Design at the Philadelphia Flower Show solidified his status as a world champion.

Max van de Sluis - Technical Judge

Max van de Sluis from the Netherlands, a Master Florist with a passion for floral design, began his journey creating bouquets with leftover flowers from his parents' nursery and flower shop. Max's competitive achievements include a Silver medal for Floral Windows to the World at SGF in 2010 and a Bronze medal in 2012. His rich experience in both national and international competitions adds a deep well of knowledge to the judging panel.
